| Scripps | 02/27/05 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 3' + A tad of north swell and a little bit of wind swell. Tide was pretty low when I first go out but the waves were clean and racy especially off a newly formed bar by the outflow south of the stairs. Some fun little rippy rights and lefts. Wasn't too crowded at first but then a whole slew of people paddled out to try to ruin my session so paddled further down toward green wall where some rights were busting don the beach. Pretty fun. |
| OB Jetty | 02/26/05 7:00 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 4' + North swell still hanging in there but super inconsistent. Lots of short period junk swell in the water too. Was the only one out for about two hours for some strange reason. Jetty was pretty closed out but as the tide filled in the bigger sets were walling and barrelling madly. Caught a couple sick tubes. Wave choice very critical - if you didn't choose wisely you were shafted by the close out an had to wait another ten minutes for another round of sets. Couple guys finally joined me but by then the tide was really doing a number on it. OK. |
| Hermo | 02/25/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 4' + North swell on the way down and some sloppy wind swell in the mix. Not too many guys out on the medium tide with the conditions a bit sectiony but the tide was filling in and smoothing things out quite a bit. Some short tubes and the odd heaving wall. A bit tricky but patience would reward for a few good sections to crack and some nice tubes. Fun. |
| Swami's | 02/24/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 4' some 6+ Raining and tattered. Was hoping for a repeat of yesterday but the winds were not cooperating. Completely blown from the south southeast. Was still big enough to smooth it out on the inside if you chose wisely but those were few and far between. Was surfable but not all that great. |
| Swami's | 02/23/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
4 - 6' some 8+ More rain yet again. I'm sounding like a broken record. Some east south east wind blowing lightly but winds over the course of yesterday and last night had the sea in a state of lumpiness. Some solid west swell mixed with south west wind swell and some long period north swell. Just me, Pat and Brian, who are a couple of locals, out. No other takers for some reason. Some waves doubling up on the outside to create well over head peaks. Was just a matter of picking the right one that would line up. Caught a few big beauties especially my first one which was well overhead and cooked all the way inside. The guys shouted me into one that was a lumpy beast where all I could do was run for the channel. I saw Pat catch an easy ten footer on the take off. Fun stuff. |
| Scripp's | 02/21/05 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 3'+ More rain and southeast wind. Buckets of rain this morning. Heavy outflow at Scrips making the water tea colored but producing some decent bars. Peaky swell with the combination of south wind swell and left over north swell. Was raining so hard I had to suit up in my car. Just a few heads when I got out. Some really fun rippable little rights just south of stairs. The odd left but they weren't holding up as well. Nice and glassy at first and then blowing stiff offshore. Pretty much hung south of the stairs the most of the session and at times by myself. Suprisingly fun. |
| Swami's | 02/20/05 6:30 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 4'+ The rain just keeps on coming. Accompanying these rains has been nonstop south to southeast wind pretty much blowing every where out. Fortunately there was a little break in the action as the wind laid down and lightly blew offshore overnight. Peaking steep northwest with a mix of south wind swell creating for some fun double ups through the inside. A little soft at first on the peaking high tide but rippable. Caught a few double ups that were just screaming bowls. Stayed out until the tide started sucking the life out of it. Fun. |
| OB Jetty | 02/17/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 4'+ Inconsistent southern hemi crossed up with some south wind swell and some lingering west. Guessed I missed it here the day before. All time I was hearing. Crowd pretty thick and water a bit smelly. Some wedges bouncing off the jetty but the best waves were swinging wide and very fast. Some pretty sick barrels also. Pulled into a beautiful full on stand up tube. Couple more short cover ups also. Pretty fun stuff. |
| Swami's | 02/16/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' Inconsistent southern hemi crossed up by a very small pulse of west. Fun at dawn with double ups through the inside and a few sets holding form off the peak. Tide started moving out fast and completely mushed the waves out. OK but more than likely much better someplace else with the swell combo. |
| OB Jetty | 02/14/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' Small inconsistent west swell. Desperate times lead to desperate measures. Water looking like tea but the few sets pushing through were spiraling down the middle of the bay between the stub and the big jetty. Nailed three of these swinging wide for some very long speed burns. The rest total close outs. OK. |
| OB Jetty | 02/11/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' North swell out the door but a few leftovers wrapping in. Sand bar way outside between the stub and the main jetty. Fast little waves with the wind howling side shore into the face. Good for a few slappies. OK. |
| PB Point | 02/10/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' some + A bit more today with the north swell peaking. Still inconsistent but hung at the point with a few guys while everyone else surfed Hermo. Some good long lined up waves through the point. Tide was perfect at about a 3.5 and pushing hard. Fun. |
| PB Point | 02/09/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' Inconsistent but very clean north swell. Paddled out at the point but Hermo looking bigger so paddle over there. Some short but carvable waves and then the crowd came. Place is starting to get like Tourmo on the smaller days - long board goons. Nice enough guys they are just hazardous. Paddled over to the point and caught some sets swinging wide which were actually lining up through the cove. Fun. |
| Missouri St | 02/07/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3' Lots of small wind swell from multiple directions. Super high tide had it peaking on the outside and then reforming on the inside for some quick turns and end sections. Was the only one out for about a half hour and then a few heads joined me. Tide peaking at a 7 footer starting to shut it down but some fun ones. OK. |
| Scripps | 02/06/05 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Lots of wind swell in the water but high tide and lack of punch making it really mushy. Strong eddy generated south winds turning southwest not helping things out either. A few lefts when I first paddled out but bacme very closed out as the tide moved out. Poor. |
| Reed St. | 02/04/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3'+ Still some north in the water but higher tides limiting the spots that can handle the combo of tide and small swell. Some lined up waves in PB good for a few carves and and dump sections. As the tide pulled out it became really closed out. OK. |
| Abb's | 02/02/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 6' Tides closing the window of opportunity for morning go outs at the Cliffs. Tide around 3' or so when I paddled out. Swell had faded overnight so inconsistent on the sets which were the only waves breaking. Swell much more north so enveloping a bit halfway down the lineup making selection key. Slipped into a couple of left bombs with some good face to crank on while others were race tracks fading into mush. Fun but nothing great. |
| Newbreak | 02/01/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 6' some 8' Long period north swell really filled in over night. Lots of slop mixed in however making for not the cleanest swell but plenty of juice nonetheless. Tide going to a 1.5' at 9:00 so a little fat but low enough to be good. About 8 guys out sharing some pretty sick waves. Lots of walls to smack and a few tubes. Managed to get one really good deep shack. Pretty damn fun. |
