1 - 3' some + Small southern hemi keeping it surfable. Cold and howling offshore. Some nice sets coming through the jetty but pretty inconsistent. Waves swinging wide and lining up almost to the stub. Pretty hollow but the hollow ones closing out a bit while the ones backing off offering more face. Just me and two other heads so had a good time. |
| Black's | 02/20/06 9:00 am - 11:00 am |
2 - 4' some + Finally cleaned up after three days of wind and some rain. A small southern hemi mixing with some wind swell. A bueatiful day with the sun out and light offshores. Peaks up and down the beach. With the mixed swell waves a bit better than the pure souths that were rifling a bit much. Some fun lefts off south peak but the rights a bit more open and hittable. Water crystal clear and a bit warmer than its been. Fun stuff. |
| Swami's | 02/16/06 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' some + Lots of wind swell after yesterdays winds with some stiff offshores helping to clean it up. A bit soft on the outgoing tide but once it turned around a few waves started to come together through mid peak to the inside that were opening up for a few good turns. Just a few heads out so it was a pretty good time. |
| Swami's | 02/14/06 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 3' some + Totally cruddy compared to the day before. Still some sets but the power had been sucked out of the remainder of this swell. Couple that with dense fog, zero visibility and wind swell chop it was a pretty sub par session with just a few decent waves to be had. |
| Swami's | 02/13/06 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
3 - 5' some + Northwest peaking. Really clean, lined up and just down right good this morning. Super lined up and totally crackable with most waves opening for multiple hits into the double digits. Inside, outside, it didn't mater every wave was a winner. Hit the water in the moonlight at about 5:30 and had my complete fill by 7. Super fun. |
| Swami's | 02/12/06 6:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 3' some 5' New north swell in the water but inconsistent. Tide coming high but holding it well. A bit crowded but was managing to finagle quite a few waves. For not being that big had some power and was lining up almost all the way to the stairs. Fun stuff. |
| 8th St Del Mar | 02/11/06 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 3' some 4' Pretty small out of the south and a few random sets out of the north. Peak high had some nice wedges breaking of the shelf at 8th with just a few guys out. Once the tide turned the wind came up and it got really gutless and crumbly. OK. |
| Swami's | 02/10/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3' some 5' Swell on its last leg but still pretty fun. Super clean and just a few heads out. Some fun waves on the peak and on the inside on the high tide. Pretty rippable and fun and couldn't believe the size of the crowd. Fun. |
| PB Point | 02/09/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
5 - 6' some 8' Swell had turned much more north over night so decided to hit up southern San Diego thinking the swell had declined and would just about the right size for the point. Hard to tell how big it was in the dark but took out the 6'5" just to be safe. Glad I did. Big and sweeping out of the north. Not too many takers and for a reason - super consistent and breaking outside of the point. Lots of waves swinging to wide and not wrapping but the smaller ones that were feeling the point were pretty good. Hard to nail down, however, with all the positioning from the sweep. Caught some good ones but it was a full on workout. |
| Swami's | 02/08/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 6' some 8' We've had some pretty good days this winter but the peak of this swell this morning was unreal. About as perfect as Swami's gets. Every wave a winner. Paddled out at dawn and for about a half an hour just stuffed myself with as many waves as I could get before the crowd got too thick. Some sick waves that were just incredibly rippable, powerful, and lining up through the whole point making for some very long paddles back out. Excellent. |
| Swami's | 02/07/06 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
4 - 6' some 8' This is what I have been waiting for all winter - a nicely groomed long period swell from the north west - the ideal Swami's swell because it has to wrap. A tad inconsistent at dawn but the minute the tide started pulling out of the 5 foot high some magical lines started to appear. Incredibly lined up and super rippable. Not real hollow, although there was some tubes, but just pure down the line adrenaline. Waves swinging very far off the corner and lining up all the way to the stairs and not losing size or power the whole way through. Very good. |
| Swami's | 02/05/06 6:30 am - 9:30 am |
2 - 3' some 5' New swell just starting to show. Not overly inspiring but super clean and pretty rippable. Nice mellow crowd at first and then as the day wore on it started escalating a bit. What should I expect on the weekend? Got mine so it was fun. |
| Swami's | 02/04/06 7:00 am - 9:30 am |
1 - 3' Pretty small but some underlying ground swell keeping things surfable. A bunch of logs on the outside but with the low tide the corner was dishing up some surprisingly rippable and long little waves. Surfed it pretty much by myself the whole time which was fun. |
| OB Jetty | 02/03/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' some 5' A carbon copy of yesterday. Maybe a tad cleaner. Same guys out even. Consistency kind of lacking but caught a few good ones. |
| OB Jetty | 02/02/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' some 5' Was hoping for another solo session but 3 guys had already beat me to it in the dark. A lot more wind swell in the water. Some nice wedge peaks on the very outside with some makeable while others closing a bit. The wider ones lining up nicely even with the wind swell wobble. Crowd got a little thick but there were some good waves to be had by everyone. Fun. |
| OB Jetty | 02/01/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' Less swell in the water than the day before but cleaner. Paddled out at dawn and surfed by myself for about an hour before anybody joined me and then it was only one guy. A few good sets early winding across the bar. As the tide filled in got to be a bit softer and inconsistent but fun nonetheless. |
