| Blacks | 07/30/00 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm |
2 -3' Low tide making things a little yucky at first. South wind also messing things up. Tide turned around and once there was water over the bars things turned around wonderfully with nice waist to shoulder high lefts virtually all to myself. |
| Blacks | 07/29/00 9:30 am - 11:00 am |
2 -3'+ Swell too south and not all that big. Good Mexico swell. Wind swell on top making for some surprising wedges but not lining up real good. Fun until the wind came up. |
| Scripps Pier | 07/28/00 6:30 am - 8:00 am |
1 -3' Lingering wind swell. Heard the pier was good yesterday morning, so hit it up. Fun little right hand peak off the pier. Not bad but nothing great. |
| North Side Scripps | 07/27/00 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm |
2 -4' Another wind swell pushing through La Jolla pretty good. Went out on south stairs first but completely mushy. Saw some good waves North Side so rallied Morgan and Jason to hop out and walk to the other side. Much better. Some fun waist high rights bumping up towards the rocks and a few lefts lining up into the Aquarium slough. Sets closing out. Super packed but fun and it was a gorgeous evening. |
| Blacks | 07/23/00 11:00 am - 1:00 pm |
1 - 2' some 3' Wind swell gone. Small inconsistent south swell creating some really clean waist high lefts. Hoping for a repeat of yesterday - was not to happen. |
| Blacks | 07/22/00 9:30 am - 1:00 pm |
2 - 3'+ The south swell that was supposed to hit the day before really didn't amount o much but it was in the background. Combine this with a nice little wind swell that wasn't too junky and we have some pretty peaky surf at Blacks. It was not liking the medium tide too much when we first got out and had a little wind ruffle. That all changed once the tide started moving in and the wind dropped to nothing. Real fun glassy peaks splitting both ways with the lefts lining up better. Could have had a bit more punch but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Double session in the crystal clear, warm water. Beautiful day to remind Jack what he has been missing. |
| P.B. Dr. | 07/19/00 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm |
1 - 3' Wind swell trying to do something here. A few lined up lefts and rights, but lacking any real power. Mucho surf stars in the water weren't helping things either. Tide turned around and all power left the water. I had to go in. Beautiful night with a glass off. |
| Del Mar 12th St. | 07/18/00 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm |
1 - 2' Crappy windswell in the water. Looked like Shores or Scripps might be good but it was weak and very small. Went up to Del Mar and got caught in traffic on Torrey Pines road - forgot that it's a heavy business area up there now. Anyhow, should have went out at North Torrey but ended up in Del Mar instead. Small shore punch that had a wedge every blue moon. Pretty weak but a beautiful evening. |
| Tamarack | 07/16/00 11:00 am - 12:00 pm |
1 - 3' Looking for the south swell so went north. Del Mar was sheet glass but micro so moved on to Carlsbad. Some fun small peaks with the wind swell and some background south swell. Pretty surfable and fun for a change of pace. Little peaks winding all the way inside into ankle deep water. Both lefts and rights that were zippy and hittable. Water up there was cold. |
| Newbreak - Inbetweens | 07/15/00 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm |
1 - 3' After seeing so much wind swell at Blacks I decided to head down to the Cliffs at check it out. A few guys out in inconsistent waist high surf with two guys out at Nubes on the peak low and looking pretty surfable. Get down there and it is pretty small but there are sets of 3 to 4 waves every five minutes or so making it worth waiting - sort of. Watched Inbetweens which had a few heads on it. Some head high sets were rolling through so went over there for a few head high crumblers but it was real messy. Went back to Nubes with only one other guy out and struggled to get a wave in. |
| Blacks | 07/15/00 9:00 am - 11:00 am |
2 - 3'+ Was pretty disappointed by conditions at Balacks today. The overhyped south swell was just in the background with wind swell predominating and making for less than stellar conditions. Most waves either closed out or mushed out. Managed to get a couple of decent rights but that's about it. Majorly zooed. |
| Blacks | 07/06/00 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm |
1'+ Extremely small to almost dead flat. North side Scripps pier had a two foot wave rolling through but no zip so thought Blacks would have a bit more juice. No one out and for a reason. Weak windswell slop. Did manage to get a few small slappers in - the beauty of Blacks - always something to surf. |
| Blacks | 07/04/00 10:00 am - 1:00 pm |
3 - 4'+ Pretty large windswell pushing through reading 4.8' on the buoys. Shores was looking good and Scripps was head high and closed out. Absolutely no where to park by the Shores because of the amateur beach hour 4th, so went to Blacks. Good when I first went out on the lower tide. Big fat lefts holding up, although lacking a bit of punch. Once the tide started coming in the form dropped with it getting mushy. Tried surfing North Peak where I saw some dudes getting some nice rights but I just couldn't seem to pull one down and then the current was sweeping so I would end up back at Middle Peak any how. |
| Scripps | 07/03/00 9:00 am - 11:30 am |
2 - 3'+ Windswell today with so so overcast and slightly blown conditions which did improve during the session. Lacking power but there was a nice left breaking just south of the stairs, but once the tide started filling in it started to mush but then a small workable right was coming through every once in awhile. Real crowded with bozos. |
| Blacks | 07/01/00 11:00 am - 1:00 pm |
2 - 3'+ Remnants of Southern hemi still hanging around with some solid sets still pushing through Blacks every 5 to 10 minutes. Tide going out after it being pretty full, helping conditions out. Super peaky and rippable lefts pushing through with a slight windswell helping to really peak things up. Water warm and steaming hot on the beach. Real fun session - I would of stayed out longer but was getting too much sun already. |
