1 - 2' some + Small and inconsistent southern hemi running. Some good carvable waves off the corner when they were coming through just long waits. Water was super warm. Tide came in and pretty much killed it. OK. |
| Black's | 07/30/03 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 2' some + Tiny south pulse sliding in sideways. Pretty closed out and dumpy. Variable winds from this crazy tropical weather. A few lefts with fast corners and a couple dump section rights. Poor. |
| Black's | 07/26/03 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 2' some 3' South swell evaporated over night. Scraps of wind swell on offer. Junky, bumpy, and closed out. Really had to search for an open face. A few short lefts and a few fast rights lining up for a few cracks, but these were the exception. Poor. |
| Bird Rock | 07/25/03 6:00 am - 8:30 am |
2 - 3' some 4' Small and inconsistent south swell. Really nice and glassy this morning. Short peaky waves good for round housing and that's about it. Just a few heads for about and hour and then the pack arrived. Not enough to go around for sure. OK. |
| OB Jetty | 07/24/03 7:00 am - 9:30 am |
2 - 3' some 4' Small south swell starting to hit. Pretty inconsistent but when they came they were pretty good. Really lined up and hitable. A few bowls on offer also but they were tricky. Managed to get a deep one and pull out under the curtain before it closed out. Surly pack this morning with one goon claiming I burned him when he couldn't make the section. What a joker! His buddy piped up too when I caught a wave right after that but I just smiled at them and laughed. All bark and no bite as usual. Fun. |
| Reed St. | 07/23/03 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 2' some + Pretty dinky out of the south west. Really clean when I first went out with just a little breeze out of the south. some fun little whackable lefts at first but then the tide started filling in more and the waves turned into little dumpers. Barely OK. |
| Black's | 07/21/03 6:30 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 2' some + Just traces of swell from TS Felicia. Just me and two other guys out with glassy conditions and really warm water. Was way up in north peak because of the very southerly direction. Some smackable little rights and lefts coming through every once in awhile. Wind started picking up out of the north so headed in on good little right. Fun. |
| Windansea | 07/18/03 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 3' some 4+ South swell not all that impressive. Very inconsistent but at least Windan was pulling it in. Just a small pack of longboards out when I paddled out. Nobody in postilion so I pretty much had the run of the place for about an hour until the hordes arrived. Some fun roundhousable waves while the tide was still going low. Tide turned and really softened it up and that crowd...fun while it lasted. |
| Black's | 07/18/03 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 3' Just a very small pulse of south running. A few lined up lefts that were opening up around north peak. Ultra crowded now that the water is up at bathtub temps. OK. |
| Swami's | 07/16/03 6:00 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 3' Wind swell a bit bigger today but definitely more jumbled. On the low tide a few peaky lines through the corner that were really rippable only problem was it was a long wait between waves. Tide started filling in about an hour and a half in and really started softening it up. OK. |
| OB Little Jetty | 07/15/03 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 2' some+ Really dropped overnight but super clean. Checked the jetty but it was flat. Saw some fun little rights peeling in front of the little jetty so after a ten minute watch, paddled out. Some fun little peaks pitching up and barrelling on the minus tide. A few walls to hit but mostly just little speed runs. Tide started filling in and softened it up. After about a half hour the tide was really pushing. With the added water it started peaking up again and creating some nice walls to smack. Fun, although a bit crowded. |
| Black's | 07/14/03 6:30 am - 8:30 pm |
2 - 4' Lot more west wind swell in the water today. Some really good lefts popping up at south peak right when I paddled out but these faded really fast as the wind swell started filling in much more. Started walling up big time. Had to be in just the right spot as it hucked and barreled into close outs. Really hard to figure the lineup too with the sky matching the water color creating the surreal atmosphere of waves imperceptible until they were on top of you. Still, a few corners to be had but this quickly became the exception as the tide filled in. Oh well can't always win them all. |
| Black's | 07/13/03 6:30 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 4' Southern hemi a bit more filled in but line up super packed. Lots of scrambling through the pack. Caught some pretty damn rippable lefts and as the tide started filling in some good rights. Was getting pretty walled out on the higher tide though. Fun, although I could do with about 50 less guys. |
| Black's | 07/12/03 10:00 am - 12:00 pm |
2 - 3' New southern hemi in the water but it is from very far away so very inconsistent. Some good lefts peaking up off south peak, just had to be patient. Nice and calm still with just a trace of ruffle on the water surface. Lefts were pretty hittable but slightly weak. Still pretty fun though. |
| Black's | 07/11/03 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 2' Super small. Barely cracking a foot. Really windy overnight but it was sheet glass down at Black's. Unfortunately this wasn't really helping anything. A few little cracker rights and lefts but really not very sur fable. |
| Black's | 07/09/03 6:00 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 3' Pretty small out of the west with just a micro tad of southern hemi lingering. Super clean and peaky with fun little rihgts off south peak throwing up a couple of micro tubes and some zippy little corners. Some little lefts lining up once in awhile too. A few too many people for the condidtions. Fun. |
| Swami's | 07/07/03 5:30 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 3' some + Wind swell going strong still with a tad of southern hemi mixed in also. Had the inside to myself for about an hour and just catching a ton of waist high zippers good for hitties and roundies. Crowd started thickening up but managed to snag some really good lined up waves off the corner when the tide started dropping out. A lot of fun rippable waves. Good. |
| Black's | 07/06/03 6:00 am - 9:00 am |
3 - 5' some + Still the same combo of swells with the wind swell a bit more organized. Fat at first but then the tide started dropping out and some really wedgy peaks were popping up all over the place. Some really rippable lefts that were just asking to be hit. There were some good rights if you could sniff them out. Morgan was hot on them. Caught a couple of these also that were pretty whackable. The little bit of morning sickness that first greeted us died off for about a couple hours for pristine conditions, but then the south west wind came up strong forcing us in. Good. |
| Black's | 07/05/03 5:30 am - 8:00 am |
3 - 5' some 6+ A new combination of southern hemi and solid wind swell. Water really patchy with some frigid spots. A little south wind going side shore so not really blowing it out. Chunky lefts popping for some speed burns around south peak. Tide started dropping out and it was getting a bit more walled but still pretty surfable. Fun. |
| Black's | 07/03/03 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 2' some + Super glassy but not a hell of a lot of swell. Tide started moving out and a few lefts were lining up for a couple hits and a few little rights were zippy but not much else going on. Crowd got thick and I bailed. Almost OK. |
| Black's | 07/02/03 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 3' some + Another negative low tide this morning. Some nice wedgy peaks that were super glassy and rippable from a small southern hemi and clean little wind swell. Mostly lefts but did snag a few lined up rights. Was good for about an hour and then the tide started moving in really softening it up. Might be good when the tide moves over inside bars. Pretty fun while it lasted. |
| OB Jetty | 07/01/03 5:30 am - 6:30 am |
1- 2' some + Super low tide, crap wind swell muck, and a major drop in surf overnight really hurting the jetty. Barely surfable. A few miracle waves holding up but mostly just small close outs. More tide might of whipped it into shape. Poor. |
