Location Date/Time Conditions
Scripps 06/29/01
5:30 am - 7:00 am
2 - 3' some 4' Total junk wind swell. Had some size but the swell was just completely disorganized with no form once the tide turned around and started dropping. It has been flat and super windy all week so I wasn't suprised the the water was extremely cold from some upwelling. So, there were few left peaks breaking off the stairs and north but it was a crap shoot as far as getting a good one. Manged to get a few decent lefts but once the tide turned it was allover and just a struggle to get a decent one in.

9:30 am - 11:00 am
1 - 3' some 4' Smaller than yesterday and a bit more crossed up with some windswell. The crossed up conditions making it a bit more peaky with some fun little lefts and the odd right up at middle peak. Water felt a little spotty however, but I think it was still pushing at least 68. Lacking juice but still fun.

2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
2 - 3' some 4 + Really windy in the morning so I decided to wait for a possible mid day calm down. Still pretty windy when I left my house but on the beach at Blacks just a nice little breeze. Waves a bit mushy at first but then the tide started rolling out and it became pretty fun with some solidly chest high lefts breaking off of middle and north peak out of the south. There was a window of about 45 minutes where it was just on and really rippable with even a few odd tubes here and there. Pretty fun.

6:00 am - 7:30 am
1 - 3' some 4' Super clean this morning with a light tropical feel going on. Inconsistent little south starting to pulse. Split peaks from middle to north peak. Some fun really fast waves. Some would open up for some carving while others would shut down quick. A few large sets rolled through to liven things up. Caught a nice carvable 4 footer in. Not a bad way to start summer.

6:00 am - 7:30 am
1 - 2' some + Mixed up wind swell ruining the little south pulse, which was barely pulsing. Completey crap form this morning. Mushy close outs - possibly the worst combination and I particularly hate it. Barely scraped together a few decent waves. At least I got some excercise walking teh trail.
Diamond St. 06/16/01
10:00 am - 11:30 am
1' Tiny and clean little swell. The only thing making it surfable was the low tide that created a bit of a crumbly little lip. Actually got a left that had a lip to hit which, bedsides the warm water, was the highlight of the session.

5:45 am - 7:45 am
2 - 4' Wind swell a bit more organized today. Bigger waves a bit inconsistent and lacking punch. Still it was good to see the wave working. A bit of a south wind on it early ending up glassing off around 6:30 or so. A few were swinging wide into kiddy bowl but were flattening out quick. The best waves were the sets swinging wide enough to connect through to the bowl but good luck nabbing one of those. Caught a few decent ones around mid peak that lined up and offerd up some face. Not great but it was good to surf the reef.

6:00 am - 7:30 am
1 - 2' Small windswell running with most places looking pretty schwag. Wind swell supposed to be filling in but the cliffs were barely breaking. Two guys out at Abbs and no one out at Nubes. Watched it for awhile and determined there were 2 foot sets pushing through every few minutes so headed down for a solo session. Was a pretty good wait between waves but then again I was the only one out so no biggy - the only problem was the inside was litterd with super thick chunks of eel grass floating around basically making it unsurfable at times. Besides these drawbacks, I got a handful of zippy little rights that were smackable before hitting the inside weed garden.
Blacks 06/05/01
6:00 am - 7:30 am
2 - 3' Much cleaner and hollower today but lacking real power. I don't know if it was the really low tide or just the lack of any real good bars but it was pretty closed out. There were some lefts and a few rights scattered around but it was hunting time. Did manage to pick off some wedgy lefts around middle peak. A lot of waiting around for these workable corners is a bummer. 10 days of flatness before this wind swell makes anything seem good, so the crowd was pretty thick also. Thank goodness UCSD is almost out which will help the crowd situation immensely.
Blacks 06/03/01
8:30 am - 11:00 am
2 - 3' Finally some ridable surf. Wind swell kicking up some shoulder high sets. Only problem was the wind, which was up at dawn and just got stronger as the day wore on. Wind wasn't too much of a factor at first as the tide started dropping out there were actually quite a few junky left peaks that had plenty of lip to work with. Not too many takers either. Surfed middle peak with one guy while there was a crew of young rippers out destroying north peak and that was about it. So, overall it was pretty fun until the wind completely destroyed it around 10:30, but it was good to hit a few lips after such a dry spell.
