1 - 2'+ A little more surf out of the south today but not by much. Low tides still creating some small bouncers off the jetty. Just me and a long board out for most of the session. Small but rippable little waves on the good ones. Wind a bit of a problem with it coming up out of the west early. OK. |

1 - 2'+ Small but surfable little bounce wedges off the jetty. Had it to myself for most of the session with one long boarder hanging on the inside. OK. |
| OB Jetty | 06/26/06 5:30 am - 6:30 am |
1 - 2'+ Well its over. The run couldn't last. Thaught I saw some sets but the tide was way to low with a minus 1.5 at 4 in the morning and a stiff north wind hacking it up. Still thaught I could get a few with nobody out but that idea lasted about 15 minutes as two kids paddled out. A few one footers bouncing for some pump turns until dumping over about 2 inches of water. Pretty terrible. |

2 - 3'+ Got kind of later start because of some major morning sickness going on from a lingering strong and shifty wind from a tropical cell that was thrashing the coast the day before. The wind laid down around 6 and headed down to the jetty. Was pleasantly surprised buy a good dose of wind swell and southern hemi combining for some consistent waves. Bouncing and swinging a bit wide but holding up some really good and long spinning sections. Bounce allowing full sideways entry into a a little hooking wave that would gurgle and spin down the line. Lots of turns or a good tuck and run. Scored easily my best tube of the season with a double bubble bouncing and spinning a sweet tube for about 5 seconds. All I had to do was pump and weave. Incredible little wave. The fun couldn't last to long as most of OB paddled out to join in the fun. By then the tide was getting a smidgin high and the north wind was really picking up. Good while it lasted. |
| OB Jetty | 06/24/06 5:30 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3'+ Lingering southern hemi dregs and a boost in wind swell had some fun waves busting off the jetty. A bit crumbled but sand bar holding form nicely for a few turns. Just me and one other guy out early while a few guys paddled out to join us the tide started pushing helping out the consistency. Not to bad. |
| OB Jetty | 06/23/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 3'+ Finally some favorable conditions. Slack wind and left over southern hemi making for squeaky clean conditions at the jetty. Tides getting lower in the morning but pushing quickly. Didn't look like much but could tell it had excellent form on those sets. Surfed for about 45 minutes by myself and then a small crew came out but enough to go around. Very lined up but the bounce peak holding up nicely for some carves and the odd tight little tube. Fun. |
| Scripp's | 06/22/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' More unfavorable south winds at dawn so headed over to Scripp's, which along with the Shores, is the closest beach to my house, so I do like surfing here if for the convenience for sure. Anyhow, south swell seems to have dropped in period and spread a bit more so angling in. Combined with a pretty steep wind swell there were some good peaks especially favoring the lefts but definitely a few rights too. Clean glassy but insanely crowded, I still managed to pull down some fun and rippable waves. |
| OB Jetty | 06/21/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' Both the west wind swell and the southern hemi thats skipping us by on the down swing. No wind at dawn but the minute the sun came up the west wind kicked in. Not complete blown out but definitely not clean. The only thing that salvages that is that the sand bar is so shallow it cleans it up. Some bounce happening but the predominate swell was the wind swell so a lot of waves swinging wide and sectioning. Still some fun ones off the jetty and some good speed sections to end ramps. Crowded at dawn but by 6:30 only two other guys out with me. Nothing great but fun. |
| Swami's | 06/20/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 3' a rare + Southern hemi that supposedly is lashing the coast barely making a peep in San Diego county south of Oceanside. Still quite a bit of wind swell in the water but the southern hemi swells very inconsistent and a tad weak. Still the surf was fun with the inside reforms coming alive after the tide peaked. Pretty much me and a few other heads on it. Very good round house practice. Full wrap arounds in effect and a few odd waves for a nice steep lip off a peaky take off. Fun but definitely nothing to get excited about. |
| OB Jetty | 06/19/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 5' a few + New south swell in the water and a boost in the wind swell. Just light south puffs so the outside bar was pretty glassy. Wedge bouncy on high going low tide. Surfed with one other guy for about an hour as we traded off peaks. A bit soft but also throwing in spots if thats possible. As the tide started pulling out it started to throw and line up much better with sections chucking barrels in front of you as you pumped down the line. A few more guys came out but always manageable with plenty of good waves to go around. Really fun. |

2 - 4' a few + Wasn't expecting much after yesterday's mediocrity. Pulled up to the Jetty and only a couple of heads out and there were waves! Southern hemi still lingering and some west wind swell. Light south wind not affecting it too bad and the tide had just turned from about a four foot high and the jetty bounce was working well. Nice lined up peaks pushing all the way to the inside on the choicer ones with some lip to hack and as the tide dropped out some pretty round sections. Backdoored and thread the needle on one that was pretty sick. As the tide dropped it became cleaner but also more inconsistent and sectiony. Pretty fun. |
| Swami's | 06/17/06 5:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 3' Small wind swell and weak southern hemi not doing much. Was supposed to be a better does of wind swell but it just doesn't seem to be happening. Nice south wind on it too. A few waves pulling together especially after the tide started rising and the wind laid down a bit for a few lips but by no means anything spectacular. |
| Scripp's | 06/16/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' Well knew it was too good to be true to have a repeat of yesterday. Swell smaller and junkier and of course the kookatic masses had shown up for a full go at it. Mostly lefts today and not very good at that with most waves on the soft side. Slowly migrated my way toward the pier were there were a few sectiony rights and kept on looking at north side. Looked OK and uncrowded. Get over there and it is pitching and wedging everywhere. Some fun rights into the pier and further down the beach split peaks favoring the lefts. Was having a pretty good session when I decided to go in but paddled back to the south side were conditions had degraded to thumping close out. Had fun at north side. |
| Scripp's | 06/15/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
3 - 5'+ Major boost in wind swell overnight. Best Scripp's I've seen in long while. Wedge peaks up and down the beach. At first favoring the lefts that were a bit fast, but then, the tide dropped some more and the rights were peaking wonderfully and opening up for some big carves. A few almond shaped tubes but those were hard to get into. An added bonus was the lack of crowd. Pretty light considering it was about as good as it gets there. Good. |
| Scripp's | 06/14/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 2' A few day of abysmally small surf in an otherwise pretty good run of surf for this time of year. Really small and tattered swell but some surfable little sections and I was the only one out for about an hour so it was OK. |
| Swami's | 06/11/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 3'+ A tad of wind swell and some southern hemi running. A little sloppy at first on a negative low and it just degraded from there. A few sections on the bigger sets to hit over the inside ledge and some end section but otherwise pretty windy and miserable. |
| Scripp's | 06/10/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 4' Swell cleaned up overnight and was squeaky clean at dawn. Small but perfectly shaped peaks with some very good rights in front of the parking lot going to the stairs. Lots of people out but hanging a bit inside seemed to be that ticket on getting those good little peaks. Cruised over to north side for awhile and it was smaller but wedgy and dumpy with some pretty fun little peaks and a small crowd. Fun. |
| Scripp's | 06/09/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2- 3'+ A bit more swell that was locally generated and very short interval. The tides are starting to get a bit lower in the morning but the low tide bars here are in pretty good shape and have been the only game in town. Unfortunately, the wind switched right at dawn from south to south west pretty much blowing it out but the bars were handling it well with some really fun reform rights on the inside that were pretty punchy. |
| Scripp's | 06/08/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 2' Really small left over wind swell but ultra clean. Killer rights peaking up in front of the stairs good for zippy pump turn and a few lips with a nice end section to float. Even though it was micro it was pretty darn fun. |
| Reed St | 06/07/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' A continuation of the wind swell which seemed to get a bit more junky and some fading southern hemi. Some lefts busting off in front of Thomas early but as the tide came in things shifted to the inside a bit more and some pretty fun left reforms were to be had on the southern sets that would have a rolling takeoff for big roundy and then line up across the inside bar for a couple of smacks. Pretty fun. |
| Swami's | 06/06/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 3' Southern hemi supposedly peaking. Wind swell in the water too. A bit soft on the high tide but a few sections lining up on the inside. Tide drop trying to help it out some but overall a bit weak but definitely surfable. |
| Scripp's | 06/05/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Swimming pool like conditions with a light south wind puffing offshore and a medium high tide. Water crystal clear. Wind swell still running with a building southern hemi. Some beautifully shaped lefts off the combo of swells jacking in front of the stairs and reeling toward the pier. Some a bit too fast others opening up nicely for some full rail carves. Barely a crowd for such good conditions too. A pretty good score. |
| Swami's | 06/04/06 5:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Lingering inconsistent south swell joined by some wind swell. Tide high at first making for some soft sections on the outside and few good ones on the inside. As the tide pulled out some sections started to come together better off the corner for some fun little carvable waves. Pretty fun stuff. |
| Black's | 06/03/06 5:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Decided to give Black's a shot hoping it was pulling more swell. tide dropping but still in the medium range at dawn. Chunky and weak on the higher tide. Mushing out and then guttering and if you were lucky a nice reform on the inside. Mostly all lefts with not a good right in sight. As the tide dropped the south sets were sweeping up the beach forming short shoulders and quite a bit of chunk in the water from some strong outer winds making it sectiony. Still some decent lefts coming through with the odd lip and lots of round house sections. It was OK. |
| OB Jetty | 06/02/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' Looking really inconsistent and drained on the low tide. Clean conditions but signs up saying there is a water advisory due to a high bacteria count. This means the city or the county actually tested the water for once and is telling us something we all already know who frequent the jetty - it's a stinky urban river outlet. Anyhow, some good ones when they would roll through off the bounce but very inconsistent to the point it was about 10 minute waits between any waves at all. Luckily caught a beautiful waist high line in so left on a good note. OK. |
