1 - 3' some + Swell pretty much fizzled out. Some sets still flurrying through inconsistently. Just me and one other guy out at dawn. Managed to get most of my waves then because the minute a bunch of logs paddled out it shut down and I struggled to get one in. OK. |
| Swami's | 03/16/05 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 6' some + Swell not as big or as punchy as the day before but still pretty fun. The corner still offering up some tubes while the main peak was throing up the odd big set. Crowd on it early but if you had pateince you could get some wide swingers. Fun. |
| Swami's | 03/15/05 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
4 - 6' some 7'+ Seems to me that we always get our best souths out of season. This swell no exception. Powerful swell with enough west in it to hit North County extremely well. Couple this with a small north west ground swell and Swami's was close to all time. South sets drawing hard off the low tide reef on the corner, barreling and spitting down the line with the larger sets closing out the channel. Some sick tubes off a hard wedging main peak also. Haven't seen that many pits out their since the infamous January 7th swell. Surfed the corner and locked into some major pits. Backdoored one and dropped into a bomb that was a good 3 second cover up. Excellent. |
| Swami's | 03/14/05 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
3 - 6' some + South swell really filling in. Unfortunately a low tide and some spring like weather tearing up the conditions a bit but there were some choice waves to be had off the corner. Some closing out but other just rippable freight trains. Fun. |

3 - 5' some + Another pleasant surprise this afternoon as I waited for the tide to turn in the afternoon and hoping for a light crowd at the Cliffs. New north swell being joined a pretty decent early season southern hemi. Four guys out when I paddled out. A bit soft at first but still rippable on the bigger sets. Tide dropped and more swell filled in as it got really good. Unfortunately the crowd was on it then. Got some good ones though before it got too out of control. Got so crowded at one point I paddled over to Inbetweens and caught a couple of bombs. Paddled back to Nubes to go in and got a shack in. Nice. |
| Swami's | 03/12/05 5:30 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4' some + Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the high quality small surf on offer. Extremely rippable and actually barreling through the inside it was so squeaky clean. Was catching lines about mid peak that were bending into the corner at full throttle and throwing some tasty round sections. Really fun. |

4 - 6' some 8+ After yesterday's macking swell, which I decided to sit out because of crowd issues(100+ out at Swami's). Was ready for the hype mongers to go back to the OC and surf some good Swami's. Was not disappointed. Super clean and rippable of the corner. didn't even bother surfing the peak because swell was a true west angle and the corner is just as big and better. Just me a few heads partaking. Good to excellent and just getting better on the push when I left.. |
| Swami's | 03/09/05 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5'+ New round of north west swell but everyone expecting it so crowd super thick. some pretty good waves off the corner and the peak - it was just choose your crowded poison. Pretty rippable even on the super high tide. Would have been really good with a few less people. |
| Swami's | 03/08/05 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3'+ West swell already on the fade but still some clean sets pushing through on the very high tide. A few round housable ones but I was mostly out there to get a feel if a could surf with my mangled hand. Hand held up OK. Surf shut down with the 6 foot tide. |
| Swami's | 03/07/05 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5'+ New west ground swell in the water. Some super clean and rippable waves through mid peak after backing off from the outside. Was catching some real beauties and was about to go in when disaster struck. Two idiots, one on a long board, and the other a shortboarding fool, collided. The long board, who was way out of control, was dropped in on and they collided literally right in front of me and one of the guys boards sliced my hand open and crushed a couple of fingers in the process. I was fumed and chased the long boarder out of the water while I berated the goon on his Merrick. Needless to say my session was ruined and had to catch one in. |
| Swami's | 03/06/05 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
3 - 5' Swell cleaned up over night but super weak, mushy and gutless for some reason even with some reasonable size. Strange. A few lining up with some carvable face but overall weak. |
| Swami's | 03/05/05 6:30 am - 9:30 am |
3 - 5' Swell on the down turn but still plenty of waves. A little sectiony and soft but some good ones could be found off the peak. Crowd a bit of a problem but I managed to get mine. Nothing great but fun. |
| Newbreak | 03/04/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5' some 6'+ Swell had settled down overnight and smoothed. A light south wind with rain but not really blowing it out. A bit mushy at first but the tide sucked out and the wind switched offshore and some sick waves started pouring through. Pretty damn rippable with the odd bowl to boot. Light crowd making it that mc more pleasant. Really fun. |
| Swami's | 03/03/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5' some 6'+ Even more swell today but really mixed up and lumpy. Swami's not doing to well on the outgoing tide. Kind of mushy and only select waves off the peak lining up properly. Add this with a thick crowd and frustrating sets in. Fortunately the tide finally dropped enough for the corner to start working a bit and caught a couple good ones to go in on. OK. |
| Newbreak | 03/02/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5' some 6'+ A nice west wind on the surf all night with it still blowing lightly at dawn. Pretty mixed up but a solid new ground swell starting to show. Tide dropping so sections definitely sucking out on the inside. Although pretty lumpy and tattered it had enough size to have some rippable face and some sick double up bowls on the inside. Managed to nab one of those bad boys. Some pretty large sets pouring in every once in awhile also. Pretty fun. |
| Swami's | 03/01/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5' + Not as big as I was hoping for but there was some energy. Tide a bit too low and after about 6:30 the crowd became a real problem. Some good sets busting off the peak. A few deep ones barreling through the mid section while the corner had some good ones but very inconsistent. Was trolling around all three sections trying to get some in. Best waves at dawn with some good ones off the peak and a nice barrel through mid peak. Would have been good if the crowd wasn't a factor. |
