| Swami's | 03/31/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' Some wind swell and medium period swell in the water with some southern hemi. Not as big as projected but not flat at least. A bit soft and a bit inconsistent but a few good ones to pull down off the corner and toward mid peak that had some face to slap. Fun but nothing great. |
| Swami's | 03/27/06 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' A front moved through overnight leaving a pretty morning sick ocean. Still some pulses sliding through but pretty inconsistently. Crowd light so headed out. Although small had some punch with the high tide push so managed to get some fun double ups on the inside reef. Bugged out when the crowd got thick but a worthy session. |
| Swami's | 03/26/06 6:00 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 3' some + New medium period north west swell mixed some left over southern pulses. Conditions nice and clean with a light fog. Soft on the high at first but when the tide turned the inside corner had some fun ones good for a few lips. Fun. |
| Black's | 03/25/06 5:00 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' some + Tide have taken a major upswing in the morning. A five footer at 4:00 am had Black's with too much water in the pool. A few large south pulses coming through but with all the wind swell in the mix hard to line up. Caught a few good reforms on the inside but overall a mushy mess, plus I got my ass handed to me on an errant head high peak that held me at the top and then drove me hard. |
| Newbreak | 03/23/06 6:00 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 3' some + Looked at the jetty at first light and it looked terrible. Made a quick decision to head to the cliffs although I only had limited time. Got down there around 6 and of course there were already a few heads out. Pretty mixed up form all the wind and rain over the past few days but surfable. Managed to pull down a few fun ones that had some face to work with and plenty consistent so I had fun. |
| Newbreak | 03/19/06 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3' some + Was extremely windy yesterday afternoon leaving the ocean in tatters. Still lots of residual bump although it was blowing offshore. Looked like another front was approaching too, probably keeping the ocean in a frothy state. Still some fun waves and a light crowd. A bit weak but some waves were finding the reef and lining up nicely and the odd dipper on the inside when the tide started moving in. Consistent and pretty fun. |
| Swami's | 03/18/06 8:00 am - 10:30 am |
1 - 3' Lots of wind and rain the night before. Still really windy at dawn but a new wind swell supposedly moving in. Was hoping for the wind to lay down mid morning and hopefully clean up. Wind laid down quite a bit around 7 and I hit up Swami's with just one other guy. As the tide started to push it became pretty surfable on the inside with some pretty thwackable face to work with. Had it to myself for about an hour as slowly people started to trickle out. Corner got pretty good for a small window of time before the wind came up really strong out of the north west and tore it to shreds. Fun while it lasted. |
| OB Jetty | 03/17/06 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' Some wind swell hanging on but still pretty junky. Low tide early so hit up the jetty but the sand bar really not that hot with it swinging really wide into the bay between the jetties. Some makeable waves and tubes but mostly very fast and on the verge of closing out, especially when the tide started moving in. Seems like the negative tides more of the call here these days. |
| Swami's | 03/16/06 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' some + What a bunch of hype. Supposedly a pretty solid north west swell in the water but in reality was passing the So Cal coast by. Mostly wind swell and not very good at that with it being weak, mushy, or super sectiony. A few slappers here and there but overall pretty weak and the crowd was in full force. |
| OB Jetty/Avalanche | 03/14/06 5:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' some + Thought the south pulse would hold up but the swell had backed off and coupled with the morning high tide it was barely to be seen. Swore I saw some peelers through the jetty in the half light before dawn. Paddled out and it was really backed off. Caught one runner off the jetty but it was not happening. Noticed that the corner was a bit better with a few lining up in the middle of the bay. Caught two decent waves and then that shut down with the tide. Noticed a few guys out at Avs with a few lefts popping off the jetty. Paddled over there and get a few wobbly lefts but overall pretty junky and closed out. Poor. |
| Swami's | 03/13/06 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 3' some + After 3 days of hellacious winds there was finally some favorable conditions. Of course the swell had dropped rapidly over night. A tad of wind swell but a surprise flurry out of the southwest every five minutes or so keeping things fun, especially on the inside. Not too many takers so had the inside to myself and caught a few decent lines that had some face to work with. Fun but really cold. |
| Scripp's | 03/09/06 5:30 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' some + A break between storms and blowing offshore before a new front was rolling in. Wind swell with a tad of size but pretty weak and backed off with the approaching high tide. Was the first out right at dawn and caught some good lefts that were standing up before the tide got to full. As the tide encroached quickly it was peaking and backing off with a few standing up, but most waves complete mush. Not so hot. but better than nothing. |
| Swamis | 03/07/06 5:35 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' some + Tattered wind and ground swell combo from what seems to be a clearing wind from the storm that barely happened. Some soft but surfable waves with a few a bit steeper and better shaped for a few good cracks and floaters. Would have been good if it was clean. Oh well. |
| Newbreak/Abs | 03/05/06 5:45 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 3' some + Just minor left overs. Some nice clean little waves at Nubes at dawn but it quickly got crowded so headed down to Abs were there was just two guys out. They went in and I had it to myself for quite awhile catching the inconsistent sets offering up a few lips. Nothing great but better than nothing. |
| Abs | 03/04/06 5:45 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 4' some + Left over wind swell with a smattering of ground swell. Tide going low but the wind swell was giving the waves a bit of softness. Still it was breaking off the peak and some were connecting to the corner for some nice backside roundies and a few lips. First ones out and the crowd never really got too thick so it was fun. |
| OB Jetty | 03/03/06 5:45 am - 7:00 am |
2 - 4' some + Wind swell bumped up overnight. Pretty junky but the low tide helping clean it up over the bars. Howling offshore so although not the cleanest swell some waves were holding up all the way through and some barrelling hard. Chalked up the most barrels I've had in awhile. Fun. |
| OB Jetty | 03/02/06 5:45 am - 7:00 am |
1 - 3' some + Left over wind swell that had cleaned up considerably overnight. Coming off a low tide so had a little push going. Waves swinging wide off a bar that seems to have formed in the middle of the bay from the rains. Some sick little tubes at first but the encroaching tide quickly shut it down. Fun while it lasted. |
| Scripps | 03/01/06 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' some + Junky west wind swell from a passing storm. A little bit of size but one of those weird swells that are sizable but mushy at the same time. A few decent lefts with the rights few and far. Good to get wet after a week of flatness but nothing great. |
