Location Date/Time Conditions
Missouri St. 03/29/99
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
2 - 4' High tide glass off in the eve. Some mushy to closed out peaks rolling through with a thick crowd. After work aggression making for easy pickings. Some nice lefts rolling through, although they were a little soft. Some hittable closing out rights. Not to bad for a short session. Wow, I just realized we have had tons of swell this month.
Missouri St. 03/28/99
7:00 am - 9:00 am
2 - 5' Peak working right off the north end of the Capri. Real consistent. Caught some nice lined up walls that were pretty smackable. Had to be choosy though, lots of waves were closing out as usual. Pretty fun with just me, my roommate, and some grom sharing the peak.
The Parking Lot 03/27/99
11:00 am - 1:00 pm
2 - 3' Smaller than yesterday and much more junky from the south winds. Tide was low and the inside was working and that was about it. One other guy out luckily because there wasn't to much to go around. Waves were junky but holding up over the bar with a few real smackable sections.
The Parking Lot 03/26/99
6:00 am - 7:30 am
2 - 4' After the heavy rains, it looks like the lot has a new sandbar. Breaking on high tide this morning, albeit a bit inconsistent. Two other guys out and thats it. Waves were rolling up and backing off and then jacking quickly into a peak. some would line up while others were quick drops with the peak fading. Fun, but nothing spectacular.
Newbreak 03/21/99
9:00 am - 11:30 am
2 - 5' Had a report that the Cliffs were good and was on it. Newbs wasn't the cleanest or hollowest I've seen it but was plenty juicy and super carvable. Got some insane waves across the inside that would do the double up. Snapped under one and got fully pitted only to get annihilated inside the tube. Was a little luckier on the next one getting a full shack. Got a bomb in. Great day of surfing.
Missouri St. 03/20/99
11:00 am - 12:30 pm
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
2 - 4' Came up quickly overnight with the approaching storm. Got out at peak high and it was real peaky, but conditions were deteriorating fast with the storm rolling right through. Caught some fun waves but wasn't quite satisfied. Storm blew through fast and looked outside to see it glassing off. Looked down towards the Parking Lot and there was no one out and a small 2 -3' peak coming across the bar. Fun, although a little sectiony, peelers coming across the bar. Good thing I was the only one out because it was super inconsistent. Went in the minute some other guys paddled out.
Missouri St. 03/16/99
7:00 am - 8:00 am
1 - 3' Small and peaky with the high tide. Storm rolled through and looked like it wasn't finished. Real fun little slappers. Kind of mushy and then others were little barrels. Saw one little two footer spit. Caught a bunch of little sectiony waves and then miraculously dropped in on a 3 footer that wedge and threw a solid barrel. I proceeded to get pitted, popped out and then the wave lined up the whole way through to the shore. I got out cause I knew I couldn't top that one any time soon.
Blacks 03/14/99
12:30 pm - 3:00 pm
2 - 4' Pretty small everywhere. Compared to yesterday about 1 foot smaller. Decided to head down to Blacks and check it out seeing that I haven't been there since the end of summer. Some actual size coming through on the sets but the sets were inconsistent. Wind on it all day and night weren't helping things out either creating lots of bump. I caught some pretty fast shoulder high lefts but the bump was pretty much ruining most of the waves and the sandbars were not all that ideal - lots of closeouts. Better than nothing.
Missouri St. 03/13/99
8:30 am - 10:30 am
1 - 3' some + Small but clean. There are some low tide sandbars out front that are actually kind of fun - nothing epic but surfable. Caught some nice little peeling rights tat were hittable and throwing little tubes in sections. Waves on the verge of closing out but miraculously holding up sometimes.
Missouri St. 03/08/99
6:30 am - 8:00 am
2 - 3' some + Storm passed through last night and blew everything to shit yesterday late afternoon. Hoping for a cleanup because there is finally some sandbars out there that could handle some mixed up swell. It was barreling. Offshores had created the crossed swell into wedgy barrels on the verge of closeouts but makeable and hittable in sections. Pretty fun until the tide filled in and really started closing things down.
Diamond St. 03/07/99
7:00 am - 9:00 am
1 - 3' Small, cloudy, but clean. Sets coming in every once in awhile and creating a nice left off a new sandbar at Diamond. NO one out and had the little slappers all to myself until a new front came in out of nowhere and blew it out. Got a new wetsuit, an Aleeda, which is the most comfortable suit I've ever owned. Had to do it my Heat was falling apart across the shoulders causing a very mind blowing flush.
PB Point 03/02/99
6:15 am - 7:300 am
2 - 5' Weird, warbly, mushy waves this morning. A real struggle to get into anything that was going to form something of a decent wave. This swell has been another huge disappointment due to its uncleanliness. Got two surfable waves in an hour. Out front was pretty sizable on peak high but basically unridable.
