| Swami's | 11/29/04 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3'+ Super clean conditions at near freezing temperatures this morning and of course with a majorly declining swell. Some decent waves on the outside while the tide wasn't super high but a pushing tide had the outside turning soft and inconsistent. The inside started to dish up a few small lines on the increasing tide but kind of sectiony. Pretty disappointing. |
| Swami's | 11/28/04 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
2 - 4'+ The storm that rolled in the night before had left the ocean pretty mixed up with short period wind swell dominating. Ground swell underneath but with an increasing fat tide again, it was pretty soft. As the tide pushed it was doubling up more through the inside and a few outsiders were hitting the reef all right. Better than nothing but just OK. Luckily got a good one in. |
| Black's | 11/27/04 8:00 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Another steep north slowly filling in. Checked the beach breaks and reefs around PB and found it either too crowded or to walled out so headed down to Black's. Another fat high tide around 8:00 so was on the decline when I paddled out. Some fat lefts off of south peak but the bigger ones were reforming some zippy walls through the inside. Just me and a couple of heads at first while getting increasingly crowded as the tide dropped out. Water has slided into the high fifties and add that with these near freezing morning temps and your talking about a cold session. Fun. |
| PB Point | 11/24/04 6:30 am - 9:30 am |
2 - 4'+ North swell peaking. Another really high tide again but the outside point handling it well. Some good lined up walls over the boils even with the odd barrel throwing. Light crowd for much of the session making it that much more enjoyable. Hermo looking fun also but never paddled over. Fun. |
| Hanneman's | 11/23/04 7:00 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 3'+ North swell filled in a tad more but it really is a small swell. Another fat high tide of 6' at 6:30 slowing things down a lot. Had the line up to myself for a bit and then a long board paddled out after seeing me get a few insiders. We traded some decent sets that had a few sections to crank on but overall pretty hidey tidey. As the tide dropped the bozos arrived. Was just trying to get a decent one in when I dropped in on some long boarder who was buried in the soup. After I clacked a couple lips back side he somehow managed to pull out of the white water, and I don't know if he did it on purpose or not, kick his board toward me. My right fin went "pop" as I ran over his board. Thing snapped at the base. The goon was so clueless he just hoped back on his boards not realizing his rail was probably shredded by my fin. OK. The goons are finally over running San Diego. |

2 - 3'+ Swell had cleaned up after some weird weather on Sunday. Some cold offshores blowing straight east at first and then switching a bit to the south east. Small north swell in the water with some southern hemi. The sets were the only thing really surfable coming off the high tide. I had the good fortune of having the line up all to myself for about an hour. Some good waves, you just had to be patient. Crowd progressively grew but everybody in a pretty mellow mood. Beautiful fall day. Fun. |
| Newbreak | 11/20/04 6:30 am - 9:30 am |
3 - 5' Combination of a small southern hemi, north west wind swell and a touch of north ground swell had the Cliffs in a little bit of size. Form not all that great with a lot of chop but at least there were waves. Some decent waves coming off the high tide. Lots of walls to round house on and some lips here and there. Crowd pretty manageable especially after the south wind started kicking up. It was all right. |
| Swami's | 11/19/04 6:30 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 2' Made the wrong call. Should of went to Black's. What looked like chest high waves quickly degraded to utter dribble. It was terrible. |
| Missouri St | 11/18/04 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3' Small and straight as an edge swell out of the northwest. Fast little sections on the medium tide but nothing very inspiring. OK. |
| Swami's | 11/14/04 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3' Swell evaporated overnight but unfortunately the crowd didn't. So many goons and kooks and what not. The only saving grace was the hight tide push. Had some chump drop in on me on my best wave of the day. Thing that steamed me was he looked right at me as I was dropping in. One of those mini long boards. Anyhow, caught up to him and lifted his nose out but not before he clacked my rail. Had to scold him but it did no good as he continued to drop in on people so finally cussed him out. It disgusts me to resort to this behavior but some one has to attempt to maintain some form of etiquette out here. Anyhow, pretty mediocre shit. |
| Swami's | 11/13/04 10:00 am - 1:00 pm |
3 - 5' First north west swell of the season. Everybody knew it was coming so heavy crowd. Flood tide of 7' at 9:00 so was on the way out when I got there. Some good inside reforms that were rolling through the outside ripe for the picking. As the tide started the move out the corner came alive. Some good waves but a full on battle for positioning. Best way to get waves was when guys stuffed each other. Picked up some good ones from that maneuver. Also got some wide swinging sets. Some good waves but it was full on Swarmi's. |
| Missouri St. | 11/12/04 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3' Tide going really hight to about a 6.5'. Some nice double up rights on the inside shore break but once the tide started filling in around 7:00 it was a complete shut down. OK. |
| Thomas St. | 11/12/04 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 4' Lots of wind swell in the water. Going to another really hide tide this morning but not too high right at dawn. Some wedgy peaks breaking a little south of the pier. Kind of a drop and one or two hit wave before petering out but some good open face and a few tubes to be had right after the drop. Kind of fun. |
| Missouri St. | 11/11/04 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 3' Super clean conditions this morning with a small southern hemi running and light offshores. Inconsistent but when the sets rolled through some zippy lefts opening up. Tide going to another whopping six footer so when it filled in it really shut it down. OK. |
| Reed St. | 11/10/04 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 2' Similar to yesterday but less wind swell and more southern hemi making it very inconsistent. The odd left and some little right ramps for the good end section. Nothing worth getting worked up about. |
| Reed St. | 11/09/04 8:00 am - 10:00 am |
1 - 3' Very small southern hemi mixing with some north west wind swell. Coming off a very high tide and the only saving grace was that the sand bars in southern PB are in prime form. Otherwise it would have been utterly hopeless. Rippable little peaks favoring the rights up and down the beach. Not anyhting to get excited about but fun. Beautiful morning however. |
| Swami's | 11/05/04 7:30 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 4' Steep north finally hit yesterday afternoon. Swell already on the down trend. If it comes up quickly, it usually decays just as rapidly. Also a new southern hemi in the water. Some good combo waves off the corner at first and then more of the southern hemi swell as the north really dropped off. Pretty fun and rippable but extremely crowded. I managed to get mine though. Fun. |
| Swami's | 11/04/04 6:00 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 2'+ Super short interval slop rolling in. Supposed to be a pretty solid but steep north swell in the water but it hasn't quite filled in yet. Pretty sparse and a lot of people out for nothing. Tide started moving a little bit and had a half hour window of some small but slappable insiders. Pretty mediocre. |
| OB Jetty | 11/03/04 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3' Steep north swell on the way out with just a few sets wrapping in. Beautiful conditions this morning with a stiff offshore. Beach pretty empty with just me and one of the Jetty regulars, Rob, hitting it up. Sand bar back in form after the heavy rains. Some fun little rippable peaks with a few compact tubes to squeeze into. Fun. |
| PB Point/Hermo | 11/02/04 6:30 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 3'+ A medium interval steep north swell just managing to wrap into southern San Diego. Not big or consistent but better than nothing. Was going to paddle out at Chalcedony St when I kept on seeing some peaks breaking at Hermo. Decided to walk on down there and check it out. Some fun, but kind of weak peaks pulsing through. Crowd managable at first but then became a bit testy as a bunch of guys paddled out. Moved over to the point where it was less crowded with some rude long boarders. Stuck it out waiting for the sets that had some juice. A few good ones but mostly too small to really merit surfing. OK. |
| Swami's | 11/01/04 6:00 am - 9:30 am |
2 - 3' Southern hemi lingering but inconsistent. Medium tide going high not really doing a lot. A few peaks here and there. Tide started filling in about 8:00 and the inside came alive with the push. Still inconsistent but pretty rippable on a few. Killer offshore conditions - too bad we don't have a proper swell to go with them. Some fun. |
