| Scripps | 10/25/01 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' Wind swell about a foot bigger and no south crossing it up. Pretty closed out but there were some nice left corners to be had half way between the stairs and the pier. Word was out that Scripps was the only action in town so it was extremely zooed out. Had some bozo drop in on me flap aound in front of me on my only decent right of the day. Actually caught some really zippy lefts however to wash the bad taste out of my mouth. Saw one guy get a huge tube next to the pier. |
| Scripps | 10/23/01 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3' Nice cross ups with ultra clean conditions. A little on the walled side but some fast lefts and rights could be had. The rights actually had a bit of face to wack while the lefts were more or less run for your life. Fun with a light crowd. |
| Black's | 10/20/01 7:30 am - 9:30 am |
1 - 3' Been real weak since Monday with no hope in sight. Real clean conditions with a teeny south west pulse and a little wind swell keeping things ridable. You can tell UCSD is in session from the amount of goons in the water. South peak had a little rippable left but silly crowded and inconsistent. Tried doing it but got fed up and paddled up to north peak where there was a mushy right lining up for a few roundies plus a few few soft lefts. Highly uninspiring. |
| PB Point | 10/15/01 6:30 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4' Not as big or consistent as yesterday. This persistent thick fog every morning is starting to piss me off. Can't really judge the line ups too good in half light with 30 feet of visibility. Pretty much just sets out of the west with a little south cross. Only me and two other guys out. Any more than that would have been too much. A bit weak at first with it kind of dribbling across the boils until the tide really started pushing and the rights started lining up across the inside. Fun for the last 45 minutes where we were exchanging sets. A bit sectiony, but definetly whackable. |
| PB Point | 10/14/01 7:00 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 4'+ South pretty much fading but some northwest in the mix turning the point and Hermo on. Light crowd and some good waves off the outside point lining up over the boils for a few hits and some roundies with the odd sneaker set. Good times. |
| OB Jetty | 10/13/01 9:30 am - 12:00 pm |
2 - 4'+ Now if I knew that the Jetty had been like this all week on high tide I would have been all over it. Beautifully, wedging and dredging waves right off the peak next to the Jetty. Barrel a bit weird but the sandbar is in form creating super fast waves open enough for hits. Avalanche was looking good also. Very aggro crowd with the performance level way up there so everyone jockeying around and tempers flaring. Two fights while I was out. Of course you have to take advantage of it and sneak a few off the peak when this happens. Crowd 0, waves 8. Good session, beautiful fall day. Can't ask for much more than that. |
| Swami's | 10/12/01 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 3'+ Really, really inconsistent today and the high tide pretty much killing it. Were a few swinging wide through the inside for a few short whacks. Pretty disappointing. Supposed to be more swell tomorrow. Rumor has it Trestles has been on fire. |
| Bird Rock | 10/11/01 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Swell was supposed to be bigger today but I really saw no change in size or consistency but there seemed to be a bit of northwest lump in it. Pretty mushy. Really only the bigger ones hitting half way through had any carvable face. Lots of drops turning to mush. My prognosis - swell too south. Anyhow, did manage to scrape a few good ones that lined up through Ziggy's but it was a struggle with an even thicker and sillier crowd than at Swami's the day before. |
| Swami's | 10/10/01 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4'+ South Swell filling in, but still pretty inconsistent. Super clean with some really good waves to be had once the tide started dropping taking care of the mush. Super ridiculous crowd - swore it was a really good winter's day. Best waves breaking a little inside of the bowl and doubling up on the inside. Managed to get a quick dipper on a take off on one and caught a bunch of nice walls. |
| Swami's | 10/02/01 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4' A junky wind swell mixed with the odd southern hemi set today. Surfed the peak because kiddie bowl not working at all. Deep inside of the peak was dishing up some smackable walls on the high tide. Not great but not a total write off. You had to be a choosy mother though and the crowd was a bit out of hand for such minimal swell. |
| Swami's | 10/01/01 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3'+ A super inconsistent south swell. A few nice lines pushig through the inside but patience was greatly needed. Clean and finally no fog. Tide killed around 7:30 and struggled to get one in. |
