| Reed St. | 10/31/05 6:00 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' Some lingering north and a bit of south. Looked small but peaky. Had to try the new 6'1" round tail so headed out despite the small conditions. Fun at first but the tide was filling fast and mushing it out. A few lefts to thwack but rare. Too bad conditions were pristine offshore. Poor. |
| Swami's | 10/30/05 6:00 am - 8:30 am |
1 - 3'+ Short burst of north swell had it waist chest high at dawn on the peaking tide. Soft but some hittable sections on the double ups. Tide filled in and swell dropped off leaving barely surfable scraps. Poor. |
| Scripps's | 10/27/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3'+ Pretty much medium and short period wind swell in the water. Shaky conditions on Wednesday had lingering bump on the surface. Tide filling in fast but some smackable lefts in front of the lifeguard tower going toward the pier that were kind of fun. |
| Swami's | 10/25/05 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
1 - 3'+ Swells had dropped more over night but conditions were pristine. Some super clean waves busting off the corner. A bit soft but pretty rippable before the tide got too high. Had to be patient but crowd was light enough to get some good ones. Fun. |
| Swami's | 10/24/05 6:00 am - 8:00 am |
2 - 4'some 5'+ Conditions smoothed out a bit overnight as the north swell was hanging on and a bit of southern hemi was reinforcing it. Mostly action on the peak with some really nice waves going all the way through but tough to nail those down. Hung out a bit inside of the pack and picked off a few that were backing off the peak. Some pretty fun waves off the corner as well but inconsistent. Fun. |
| Swami's | 10/23/05 8:00 am - 10:00 am |
2 - 4'+ Rain still lingering with light onshore conditions. Swell pretty steep out of the north but wrapping into north county well. Pretty blown out early so not too many people on it as conditions started to smooth out around 8:00 AM. Some swingers on the corner that were a bit soft but as the swell was building became more focused and defined creating some pretty fast and rippable waves. Pretty much had it to myself with one other kid on a log so it was a pretty enjoyable time. Fun stuff. |
| Swami's | 10/19/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' Rain had finally blew through leaving pristine conditions. North swell doing a strong wrap making it look like a south swell almost. Tide manageable early so the inside had a few small zippers the were pretty rippable. Tide was pushing fast and making the surf a little larger but also a little softer but still some good sets on the corner. A few good ones off the peak but way too many snakes in the pit for that action. OK. |
| Hermo | 10/18/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' More rain and a pretty stiff side-offshore wind blowing. Not a soul about. New but very inconsistent north swell. Not hitting Hermo that well with the wrap. Caught a few but pretty mushy with another massive high tide filling in. Cruised over to the point and caught the odd large set wave that was pin wheeling around the point. OK. |
| Swami's | 10/17/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 5' Left over wind swell and some new southwest in the water. Some very nice looking but inconsistent waves off the peak lining up all the way through. Nothing epic but if you choose the right one some good face to work with. Fun. |
| Swami's | 10/16/05 7:00 am - 8:30 am |
3 - 5' North swell still running but joined by a large doe of wind swell. Heavy onshores the day before had left a residual lump in the water but some nice offshores were cleaning it up. A very high tide was filling in fast but managed to get some good sized double ups on the inside. Fun. |
| Hermo | 10/15/05 7:00 am - 10:00 am |
3 - 5' Swell up a notch overnight but had shifted much more northerly. A bit of morning sickness had the rights a bit lumpy but the lefts were pretty rippable especially after peak high tide. Crowd a little thick but not much of a problem as the waves were shifting about quite a bit. South wind came up and tore the lineup to shreds. Fun while it lasted. |
| Hermo | 10/14/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 4' New north west ground swell in the water. Inconsistent but pristine conditions making for some pretty waves. Not real big but wedge peaking nicely allowing for a few good schwacks off the top and a nice end roundie. A few too many long boarding fools out but not really a factor. Fun. |
| Scripps | 10/12/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' Mostly just west wind swell and inconsistent at that. A little jumbled up and the tide was filling in fast. Some decent lefts down by the pier good for a whack or two. Rights were either real mushy or closing out. OK. |
| Missouri St. | 10/11/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3'+ Bit of southern hemi still showing with a good dose of inconsistent west wind swell. Some freight train lefts up and down the beach. Trouble was getting in the right spot for the corner. Caught a few of these and a few sectiony rights but nothing great. |
| Swami's | 10/10/05 6:30 am - 9:00 am |
1 - 3'+ Southern hemi hanging on but much smaller than it has been. Super clean conditions this morning with just a puff of offshore. Some super clean lines pushing through the inside. Some a bit soft but others hitting the inside ledge full on little peelers. A few little double up tubes also. Had the day off so no rush to get in so I had a pretty good time. |
| Swami's | 10/09/05 6:30 am - 9:00 am |
2 - 5'+ Southern hemi dropping but still holding some good energy. Some medium period west north west wind swell mixing in causing conditions not to be ideal but at least it was blowing offshore. Some good peaks off the corner good for a few cracks. Hard to get the longer lines but they were out there and pulled down a few of them. Tide got higher line up shifted more inside and the crowd started to get thick so headed in. Fun but nothing epic. |
| Swami's | 10/08/05 6:30 am - 10:30 am |
3 - 5'+ Southern hemi peaking. Pretty solid lines pushing through and consistently. Of course conditions not cooperating with a June like Catalina Eddy thrashing conditions. Decided to head out anyhow because crowd was light and some of the reforms holding a bit better shape. Pretty thrashed at first but as the tide rose steadily the inside became much more lined up. some gems to be had especially after the tide got pretty high but it was a low percentage of waves coming through. Waves just kept on coming though and took the wind to do a full shift to the south west to get me to go in. By the then the tide was peaking and the swell was booming. would have been all time if the conditions were clean. Oh well thats the breaks. |
| Missouri St. | 10/06/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
1 - 3' wind swell faded but still hanging in there. Incredible conditions with warm offshores. Unfortunately the surf wasn't quite there. A few fun little lefts but nothing memorable. |
| Scripp's | 10/05/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3'+ Wind swell on the down slide. Some good lefts early on the lower tide but the minute the tide started moving in became very closed out and exteremly crowded. A few gems to be had but overall just OK. |
| Swami's | 10/04/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
2 - 3'+ Wind swell boosted up even more over night. Decided to check Swamis knowing that Scripps was going to be a zoo. A bit mushy but some good reforms on the inside - just a matter of nailing those down. A lot of round house practice. Nothing great but better than nothing. |
| Scripp's | 10/03/05 6:30 am - 7:30 am |
3 - 4'+ Wind swell came up over night. Super clean and consistent. Closing out in front but towards the pier was holding some form. Some nice whackable lefts and rights until the tide came in and moved it off the outside bars and started closing out on the inside. Fun. |
| Hanneman's | 10/02/05 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
2 - 3' some 4'+ A little more consistent but a tad smaller on the sets today out of the north. A few more people out all of course on logs. Stayed a little inside of them and caught some good corners good for a few whacks and some big roundies. Tide came in and the crowd boosted up making it almost impossible to get one in. OK. |
| Hanneman's | 10/01/05 6:30 am - 8:30 am |
2 - 3' some 4'+ Some sneaker south swell and a very steep an inconsistent north swell. Saw some sets busting off at South Bird with no one out so decided to hit it up. Caught a few very inconsistent peaks with the lefts actually lining up better but the tide was filling in quick and totally shut it down. Had to paddle back to Hanneman's anyhow so noticed there was a couple guys in the lineup a quite a few people out at Hermo. Some inconsistent but solid sets out of the north. Lefts were opening up for a couple of good turns before fading on the inside. Ended up just me and one other guy. Fun. |
